If you’ve been struggling to get to grips with the British Transport System, then you’re not alone. But as Sally from Brisbane discovered, sometimes we only have ourselves to blame!

Not long after she’d arrived in the UK Sally made arrangements to go and visit her British relatives at the weekend. Her aunt and uncle lived in a village in Hertfordshire, about an hours train journey outside London. Sally had only met them once before and they were looking forward to seeing her.

On the Friday before she was travelling Sally went with her mates for after work drinks.

Unfortunately I stayed out a little longer than I’d intended , in fact I only got to bed about 5 in the morning and my train was at 8 the next day.

I managed to crawl out of bed and get to my Waterloo train but as soon as I sat down I fell asleep.  I slept right through their stop and ended up going past five further stations down the line. The phone ringing woke me up – it was my aunty worried about where I had got to. I had to get the next train back but it being in the middle of the countryside this meant an hour long wait. Thankfully my relatives were great and saw the funny side of the whole thing.
